FAIRHAVEN — The Fairhaven Police Department is reporting that they have received a rash of calls from residents of the town who have been called by someone claiming to be from the I.R.S.

Lieutenant Kobza of the police department says the callers are trying to scam money from the residents.  He reminds us that the I.R.S. or other government agencies do not call citizens and demand money.

If you should receive such a call from anyone demanding money, do not give them any personal information, including bank account numbers.
