A Fairhaven parent is taking her concerns about the 8th grade summer reading list to the Fairhaven School Committee. The Committee meets Wednesday at 6:30 at Fairhaven High School, and they're expected to hear from Michelle Furtado who says the reading list contains books that are sexually explicit, and shouldn't be "recommended reading" for young teens..

Furtado says she complained about one book last year, "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian", and was astounded to find it on the list this summer. Another parent said she feels the book gives her the impression that swearing and physical groping are normal behaviors for young boys.
