The Fairhaven Board of Health is not in favor of enacting a one year moratorium in town, to further study whether a medical marijuana dispensary should be located in the Fairhaven.  The vote Monday night was 2-1.

The town's Planning Board is seeking input on the question from all town boards and commissions.

Health Board Chair Jeannine Lopes is opposed to a moratorium.  She says the concept was supported by voters statewide, and Fairhaven Town Meeting also gave the plan overwhelming support...

Board member Peter De Terra also said there was no need for a moratorium.

However, Barbara Acksen said she would like to hear more discussion about a moratorium before a final decision is made.

At least one company has indicated an interest in locating a dispensary in Fairahven.
