With very few contested races to speak of, voter turnout across the Southcoast was dismal.

In New Bedford, only 3.1% of the electorate made it to the polls - less than half the amount of last year's historic low turnout of 7.9% in the city's primary election.

Fairhaven turned out little more voters, percentage-wise, with 3.4% of registered voters in the town casting ballots.

Acushnet voters, despite experiencing several power outages during the day, had a greater showing with a 4.5% voter turnout.

Despite the lack of interest in the ballot, 9th Congressional District Republican candidate Mark Alliegro edged out his party's challenger, Thomas O'Malley district-wide. Alliegro will continue his run against incumbent Democratic Congressman William Keating ahead of the November 8 election.
