Air conditioners are whirring across the Southcoast, meaning higher electricity bills each month. But Eversource's Mike Durand says not necessarily, as the company is announcing a reduction in electricity supply rates resulting in cost-savings to customers.

Durand tells WBSM News rates are dropping from 15 cents per kilowatt hour to 10 cents. "For customers who use an average amount of electricity, which is roughly 500-kilowatt hours a month, that's going to drop their bill by about $24. And anyone who uses more than that will see an even greater savings," said Durand.

The rate reduction will remain in place for the next six months.
