DESCRIPTION:Join Tim Weisberg\, author and host of "Spooky Southcoast" on WBSM\, as he discusses "Ghosts of the SouthCoast" at the Wamsutta Club in New Bedford this Wednesday\, February 6.         Tim will talk about some of the legends and lore surrounding various SouthCoast towns and locations\, including the Wamsutta Club itself. DESCRIPTION:The Greater New Bedford Refuse District is holding its spring Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Day on Saturday\, April 27th\, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Crapo Hill Landfill\, 300 Samuel Barnet Boulevard.    The event is open to New Bedford and Dartmouth residents only. Proof of residency is required.    EXAMPLES OF WHAT TO BRING: oil-based paint\, paint strippers\, thinners\, solvents\, stains and varnishes\, lighter fluid\, waste fuels (kerosene\, gas)\, engine degreaser\, carburetor cleaner and brake or transmission fluid.    EXAMPLES OF WHAT NOT TO BRING: latex paint (dry out and throw in trash)\, ammunition\, fireworks\, explosives\, infectious & biological wastes and empty aerosol cans (recycle at the Shawmut Avenue Transfer Station).    The household hazardous waste should be in original labeled containers. In order to avoid spillage\, containers should be packed in sturdy upright boxes and padded with newspaper. Residents should not mix any of the chemicals together.    To get to the site\, take Route 140\, Exit 7 (Braley Road). If you drove north on Route 140\, turn left off the ramp. If you drove south on Route 140\, take a right off the ramp. Proceed into the New Bedford Business Park. Take the first left onto Duchaine Blvd. and the first right onto Samuel Barnet Blvd. Travel 1.2 miles to the site. There will be NO collection at the Town of Dartmouth Transfer Station or New Bedford Shawmut Avenue Transfer Station.    The District reserves the right to refuse unidentified materials and large amounts of hazardous waste. The maximum amount of waste that you can bring is twenty-five gallons or twenty-five pounds. Collection is for households only; it is not for businesses\, schools\, or contractors. DESCRIPTION:The City of New Bedford\, the Greater New Bedford Regional Refuse Management District and Doc Shredding Corp. are partnering for a paper shredding day in downtown New Bedford. The event will take place on Saturday\, April 27\, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon).    Businesses and residents of New Bedford and the surrounding communities are welcome. The paper shredding charge is $5 per box. Each box should weigh no more than 30 to 40 lbs.    The shredding event will be held at the parking lot across from City Hall on the corner of William Street and North 6th Street (enter on William Street).    Participants are welcome to watch the destruction of up to 3 of their boxes of paper. For more than 3 boxes\, shredding may occur off-site. Certificates of destruction are available\, if needed.    Paper clips and staples do not need to be removed\, but please remove paper from folders and binders.    Shredded paper will be recycled into new products such as paper towels.    In addition\, the company will destroy old computer hard drives for a fee of $5. DESCRIPTION:The Somerset Berkley Regional High School Drama Department is proud to be presenting "Next To Normal"\, a contemporary musical that explores how one family copes with crises and how far two parents will go to keep themselves sane and their family world intact. Diana Goodman\, a suburban housewife\, struggles through life as she battles mental demons in the form of bipolar disorder coupled with hallucinations that stem from a trauma sixteen years earlier. Her husband Dan\, an architect\, fights to keep her mind and his family stable but that fight becomes increasingly problematic as Diana decides to stop taking the pills given to her by her doctor. After several failed attempts to stem the tide by means of talk therapy with a different doctor\, she eventually falls into an even darker place and attempts suicide. At the suggestion of her new doctor\, Diana is convinced by her husband to submit to electroconvulsive therapy that causes her to have short-term amnesia. Throughout her struggles\, Diana’s relationship with her daughter Natalie becomes strained because Natalie feels invisible in the eyes of her mother\, who prefers the superhero-like image she has created for her son.
