The suspect in the hijacking of an Egypt Air flight has been arrested.

Authorities in Cyprus have detained the man who claimed he had a suicide vest and had the plane diverted to Larnaca this morning.

The plane was headed from Alexandria to Cairo when the hijacker took over.

Once it landed, dozens were allowed to exit.

As the hours passed, more people left the plane.

The president of Cyprus said the situation was not related to terrorism, and added that it was "all to do with a woman."

The suspect reportedly has an ex-wife that lives in Cyprus and may have been planning to seek political asylum there.
