The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has confirmed the finding of Eastern Equine Encephalitis infected mosquitoes in the north end of New Bedford.

The MDPH says the virus was found in bird-biting mosquito samples near the New Bedford Industrial Park.

In response to the findings, the Bristol County Mosquito Control Project will conduct targeted ground spraying early Friday morning between 2am and sunrise, and again early Tuesday morning.

Residents near the industrial park are advised to close their windows prior to the spraying.

Folks are urged to wear appropriate clothing and bug spray when engaging in outdoor activities, and rid their property of any standing water.
