Despite having put forth a convincing case last week, in his defense against his four-game suspension, it appears New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman has lost his appeal.

According to Adam Schefter and a host of other reporters, sources have confirmed that Edelman's PED suspension has been upheld with his appeal being denied.

There were questions regarding what exact substance caused the positive test and the answer still seems to be unknown.

The 32-year-old, who is attempting a return from a torn ACL suffered last preseason, also questioned the handling of his sample.

Despite his attempt to get the suspension overturned, he will, indeed, be forced to sit out the first four games of the team's regular season.

With Edelman sidelined to start the campaign, guys like Chris Hogan, Malcolm Mitchell, if healthy, and rookie late round pick Braxton Berrios will likely be asked to help fill the void.
