The results of the special election primary are in, and Ed Markey will be representing the democratic party, while the Republicans will be represented by Gabriel Gomez.

According to the election results, Markey beat out other democratic candidate Stephen Lynch 57% to 43%. Gomez on the other hand had a much larger win taking 51% of the vote on the GOP side of things over Mike Sullivan (31%) and Dan Winslow (13%).

The special senate election to replace John Kerry will take place June 25.

On the State side of things, Nick Collins won his primary for 1st Suffolk State Senate seat over Linda Dorcena Forry and Maureen Dahill.
