The U.S. economy created 211-thousand new jobs in October.

The Labor Department also reported the unemployment rate held steady at a seven year-low of five percent.

Economists had expected to see 200-thousand new jobs created.

Most of the job gains were in construction, professional and business services, health care and retail trade.

On average, Americans earned four cents more an hour in November following a nine cent gain in October.
