We are certainly feeling the summer heat on the Southcoast. Temperaturs will remain high, and the weather humid, muggy and hot for the next few days. 

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Eastern Massachusetts until around 8pm Friday night. Temperatures are expected to reach into the 90's both Friday and Saturday, and remain in the upper 80's after that.

HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* LOCATION... MOST OF THE LOWER ELEVATIONS ACROSS SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND AWAY FROM THE IMMEDIATE SOUTH COAST... CAPE AND ISLANDS.

* HEAT INDEX VALUES... NEAR OR JUST ABOVE 100 DEGREES THIS AFTERNOON.

* TIMING... THE WORST OF THE HEAT AND HUMIDITY WILL OCCUR BETWEEN 1 PM AND 6 PM.

* IMPACTS... PERSONS OUTDOORS FOR PROLONGED PERIODS OF TIME ON INDEPENDENCE DAY COULD BE MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO HEAT ILLNESSES. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS AND STAY OUT OF THE SUN WHEN POSSIBLE.
