A gaggle of girls decided it would be a good idea to document their presence at a fatal explosion in East Village last Thursday. How? With a selfie, of course. One of the girls whipped out their selfie stick for a group photo. Their background consisted of a burning fire, an ambulance, and cop cars.

Controversy over the photo stemmed from the insensitivity these girls displayed at such a devastating site. This was not the time, nor the place to be so vapid and inconsiderate. Lives were lost in that explosion. People were seriously injured in that fire. And all you cared about was getting a photo posted to Twitter and Instagram for "likes?"

Social media, being the unforgiving monster that it is, is going crazy over these photos. And rightfully so! Maybe next time these young ladies will keep their phones and cameras in their pockets when they come across a disaster.
