A fire displaced a family after tearing through their single-family house at 33 Platt Street in Fall River.

According to The Herald News, the cause of the fire is unknown at this time and firefighters were called onto the scene at 6:08am.

The fire started in the basement of the home when the occupants were asleep and were awoken by smoke detectors. When fire crews arrived on the scene, the occupants were safely out of the house.

The fire department came in to quickly extinguish the fire, but the home sustained substantial damage.
