Durkin Wants Quicker Response To Altercations At High School
New Bedford School Superintendent Dr. Pia Durkin says she wants staff at New Bedford High School to respond quicker to classrooms where students are verbally or physically confronting teachers.
During an exclusive interview with WBSM News, Durkin said she's conveyed her feelings to administrators at the high school...
Durkin insists New Bedford High School is still a safe school, and she's been told, the number of incidents involving students and teachers hasn't noticably increased over previous years.
The Superintendent has talked with the Police Chief, but doesn't think more officers are needed at the high school at this time, but she says its a situation she's evaluating every day.
