New Bedford Superintendent Dr. Pia Durkin is setting her goals for the current school year.

Durkin outlined her agenda before the School Committee Monday night.

Durkin said her goal continues to be a 40% reduction in the number of students rated as "needing improvement" or "unsatisfactory" in the state's standardized test.

She also wants wants to see a 10% increase in the number of students moving to the "advanced" level....

The Superintendent also wants to continue her coaching practices with administrators and principals so they can become stronger instructional leaders.

Durkin also announced a $100,000 grant from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, to review the city's Special Education programs.
