Superintendent Dr. Pia Durkin briefed the School Committee Wednesday night about the $2.4 million grant the city has received to fund the turnaround plan at New Bedford High School.

The grant amounts to $800,000 a year for three years, but Dr. Durkin says the schools can actually spend more during year one....

The Superintendent also announced that the school times would be changing at just the city's two underperforming schools in the coming year.

The school day at New Bedford High will be extended by 30 minutes, from 7:30am to 2:40pm. At the Parker School, the school day will start at 8:30am and run til 4pm.

Other schools in New Bedford will start and end their day at their regular times
