Saturday is Drug Take Back Day in several area communities, including New Bedford and Mattapoisett.

Mattapoisett Police Chief Mary Lyons is urging local residents to turn in any outdated prescriptions. While many people think those prescriptions are safe in their medicine cabinet, Chief Lyons says that's not always the case...

Mattapoisett area residents can take their outdated drugs to the police station on County Road from 10-to-2.

New Bedford residents can drop off their medications at the Shawmut Avenue Transfer Station, also from 10-to-2. .

In Westport, it will be at the police sub station at Cumberland Farms at 596 State Road and in Wareham, the drop off point is at the police station at 2515 Cranberry Highway.
