A Fairhaven Police cruiser was struck over the weekend.

Sgt. Kevin Kobza says the incident occured at 5:40 a.m. Sunday after police shutdown a section of I-195 at the Route 240 exit early due to an accident in Mattapoisett and were diverting traffic to Route 6.

The vehicle was traveling on I-195 E when it struck the cruiser.

The officer was walking towards the cruiser when they spotted the oncoming car and were able to get out of the way.

Deputy Fire Chief Todd Correia says the driver, indentified as a 22-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the St. Luke's Hospital.

Kobza says Massachusetts State Police are investigating the incident.
