NEW BEDFORD — Police are issuing a summons for a driver after the man was allegedly found under the influence of drugs while he was behind the wheel of his car.

New Bedford Police on routine patrol found a vehicle parked erratically at the Popes Island Marina at 9:03 a.m. on Tuesday. Upon further investigation, the driver of the car appeared to be under the influence of heroin.

The man was transported to St. Luke's Hospital.

The unidentified driver will be summonsed to New Bedford District Court to face a charge of operating under the influence of heroin.
