After meeting with residents in the north and south ends of the city, a private consulting firm met with folks downtown to see what they'd like to see changed in the area.

The Brovitz Group is working with the city to implement form-based zoning, which would make zoning ordinances match up with the unique needs of specific neighborhoods.

Over 30 people attended Thursday night's meeting at the group's local headquarters at the Bristol Building on Purchase Street.

Lead consultant Ted Brovitz says there's been a lot more dialogue than this week's meetings.

"We've done a series of one-on-one interviews over the course of the last couple months and we will continue to do that after this week so there will be an understanding of what's really going on and the things we really need to focus on," Brovitz said.

The meeting involved an emphasis on making downtown more accessible and encourage more walk-ability.

The group will review a draft of their findings this weekend and present a final recap Monday night at Buttonwood Zoo from 6:30-8:30 pm.

Ward Four councilor Dana Rebeiro says she's looking forward to the results and setting them in motion at City Hall.

"I'm excited to see what people come up with and move it forward," Rebeiro said after the meeting.
