Developers of a proposed resort casino in Massachusetts on the New Bedford waterfront say Foxwoods is among the gambling companies they are in discussions with to operate the facility.

Former NBA commissioner David Stern, an adviser to KG Urban Enterprises, told Massachusetts regulators Thursday that the company requests a 60-day extension to complete negotiations. He said the New York-based development firm also is in talks with two other casino operators but declined to name them.

KG Urban was among the groups that spoke publicly about their casino plans Thursday following a Jan. 30 deadline to apply for the state's final resort casino license, which is reserved for the southeast region of the state. The others included Mass Gaming & Entertainment, Somerset On The Move, Crossroads Massachusetts and the Seafan Trust.
