New Bedford High School football coach Dennis Golden has resigned.  He compiled a record of 43-59-1 during his ten years as head coach of the Whalers.

His record includes two Big 3 titles, and six straight wins against arch-rival Durfee, with an overall mark of 7-3 against the Hilltoppers.

Golden also served as a guidance counselor at the high school for eight years, and an attendance officer for the last two years.  He told the Standard Times, he expects to officially submit his resignation on Monday.

Golden says he'll be returning to Catholic Memorial High Schoo in West Roxburyl to teach Theology.  He will also coach the fresham team there.
