Deceased Victim in Fatal Crash Identified as New Bedford Woman

DARTMOUTH - Massachusetts State Police have identified the passenger killed in a crash on I-195 eastbound in Dartmouth Thursday.

The woman has been identified as 21-year-old Stephanie Merejildo of New Bedford.

Merejildo was the passenger in a 1998 Honda Civic when the car veered off the highway and struck a tree in the area of Reed Road Thursday afternoon.

Merejildo was declared dead at the scene.

The female driver suffered life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized. A juvenile, who was in the car as well, also remains hospitalized.
