Authorities say the death of a worker at a cargo terminal at Logan International Airport appears to be an accident.

Suffolk District Attorney Dan Conley said in a statement Tuesday that the preliminary investigation suggests the victim was on the tarmac at about 7:30 p.m. Monday when he was fatally injured by a truck driven by a co-worker as it backed up near a plane.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Because there is no indication of criminal conduct, the victim was identified only as a 59-year-old Melrose man.

The driver, age 47, was distraught and taken to a hospital for treatment.

He will be tested for drugs and alcohol even though there is no indication he was impaired. (Associated Press)
