According to WPRI, alleged Washington Navy Yard shooter Aaron Alexis called Newport, Rhode Island police this summer while staying at the Marriot Hotel.

He complained to police that the voices were coming through his hotel room's walls and ceiling. He told them that he had originally been staying at the Residence Inn in Middletown, but changed hotel twice. However, the police report indicates, Alexis said the voices kept following him to his each new hotel.

“Alexis went on to explain that when getting on his flight from Virginia to Rhode Island he got into a verbal altercation with unknown party at the airport. Alexis believes this individual that he got into argument with sent three people to follow him and keep him awake by talking to him and sending vibrations into his body. Alexis stated he never felt anything like this"...and that "he did not have any history mental illness in his family and has never had any sort of mental episode.” --Newport Police report, August 7th, 2013

He would not tell officers what the voices were saying...only that "he is worried these individuals are going to harm him.”

Newport Police say they told the Navy about the incident and shared the police report with security at Alexis' naval station.
