In his final season in the Major Leagues, David Ortiz put together one of the best offensive seasons of his career. 

Thanks to the dominant offensive performance, Ortiz was awarded the Esurance MLB Award for the league's Best Hitter, Friday.

The 40-year-old led the Majors in OPS, slugging percentage and doubles and tied for the AL lead in RBI with 127  this past season. The 20-year pro posted a slash line of .315/.401/.620 and also clubbed 38 homers for his highest single season total since 2006.

The retiring vet also one the Esurance award for Player-Fan Interaction.
