Dartmouth Town Meeting/ Jim Phillips/TSM[/caption]Dartmouth Town Meeting has again resisted attempts to change the structure of town government.

Town Meeting voters Tuesday voted down an article that would have amended the town charter giving the Dartmouth Selectboard the authority to hire department heads. The vote was 136-to-80.

The meeting vote flies in the face of last April's Town Election when voters supported the change. Selectboard Chairman Michael Watson is disappointed.

Town Meeting voters did approve $150,000 to fund legal costs associated with challenging the Smith-Robinson landfill capping project. Voters also gave overwhelming support to create a dog park at the Dartmouth Regional Park off Old Fall River Road.
