Dartmouth Town Meeting members have approved a $78-million town budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1st. Selectboard Chair Shawn McDonald said Town Meeting made few changes to the spending plan offered by the Finance Committee.

The annual Town Meeting also saw members okay the transfer of the Gidley School property from the School Committee to the Selectboard. Executive Administrator David Cressman tells WBSM News, the board will get to work soon on the future of that Tucker Road site.

"It will be up to the Selectboard to meet in the next month or two and decide whether they want to make a decision on the future of the property, or set up a committee to decide which way they want to go," said Cressman. He added, that some of the uses mentioned include using the site for a new police station, or expanding the town's athletic fields.

Town Meeting also approved $265,000 in Community Preservation funding for the continued restoration and rehab of the historic Aiken House off Dartmouth Street.
