DARTMOUTH — Christmas Eve started off with some extra caution at the Dartmouth Walmart.

On Sunday, December 24, at approximately 5:36 a.m., Dartmouth Police responded to Walmart on State Road on a report of a suspicious package located on the north side of the building.

After locating the package, emergency personnel secured the area and requested the assistance of a K-9 trained in the detection of explosives.

After a sweep of the area was conducted by Dartmouth K-9 Officer Christopher Flechsig and his partner “Sig,” it was determined that no explosives were present.

Further evaluation of the package determined that it was an empty cardboard box, which had been sealed.
