Dartmouth Police Arrest Suspected Tire Thief

An Acushnet man is facing charges over a tire theft in Dartmouth.

Det. Kyle Costa says officers were dispatched to McCabe St. around 3 a.m. Wednesday over a report of an active theft of tires and rims from a 2013 Honda Accord.

Costa officers arrived on scene and were told the suspect had fled the scene.

They began a search with the use of a K-9 unit and were able to find the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Bret Silva, hiding in a wooded area.

Silva was arrested following a brief investigation on charges including receiving stolen property over $250 and possession of burglarious tools.
