A Dartmouth Middle School student was arrested on school grounds today.

Police Chief Tim Lee tells WBSM News the student became unruly in the cafeteria and refused the direction of the staff. When the school's resource officer intervened, the out-of-control student struck the officer. The student was then placed under arrest.

Some circulating reports claim the officer tased the student during the confrontation. Chief Lee says that's impossible, since the resource officer at Dartmouth Middle School does not carry a taser on his person.

The student's name is not being released, since he is a minor.
