Dartmouth Man Charged with OUI After Behind the Wheel Overdose

A Dartmouth man is charged after allegedly overdosing behind the wheel of his car and crashing into another vehicle.

New Bedford Police say the accident took place early Sunday afternoon in the area of Ashley Park, when a car driven by 31-year-old Brian Farias struck a parked car.

Witnesses pulled the unconscious Farias out of the car and performed CPR. Medics arrived on the scene and administered two doses of Narcan before he was transported to St. Luke's Hospital.

Police say paraphernalia consistent with heroin use was found in his car.

Farias is charged with operating under the influence of drugs.
