Dartmouth Mall Stores Open At Midnight On Black Friday
The Dartmouth Mall is opening for the first time at midnight on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving which also marks the traditional start of the Christmas shopping season. Mall Manager Steve Byron, says 60 percent of the stores are opening at midnight, including American Eagle and Old Navy. Macy's and Sears, are opening at 12:30 a.m. David Cressman, Dartmouth's Town Administrator says Best Buy will also open at midnight and Target is planning to open its doors at 1 a.m.
Dartmouth has a bylaw prohibiting retailers from opening before 4 a.m. on Black Friday unless they submit a crowd control plan to the police department and petition the Select Board for permission. Kohl's has asked permission to open at midnight, Dick's Sporting Goods at 12:30 a.m. and Toys R Us at 1 a.m. The Select Board will vote on the requests this Monday.
