During my trip to Amsterdam I encountered a protest being undertaken by members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party.

The protesters stood in front of Station Amsterdam Centraal with a banner protesting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his government's treatment of the country's Kurdish minority.

They then took their protest to the streets as they marched to The Royal Palace encountering some confused onlookers, and at least one person showing sings of support for the Erdoğan government.

The protesters say they want the Dutch government to take a stand against Erdoğan and his policies.

"Everyday they kill people there because they are Kurdish," said party spokeswoman Mariam Norcn "so we are everyday, like month now, we are on the streets to make noise and ask the government to do something because they are killing people."

Party leaders say these protests will continue until the Dutch government meets their demands.
