The Custom House Square renovation project is almost complete. City crews laid down fresh sod Friday, covering the now hilly landscape that was once all blacktop.

Boston area resident Cami Asher was enjoying lunch nearby the still gated off park. She tells WBSM News she remembers the space as a parking lot, and looks forward to the completion of the park.

Nancy Alexander, one of the members of "Gallery 65 on William" says it doesn't bother her there's less parking in the immediate area.

In addition to the fresh grass, nearly two-dozen juvenile trees and other shrubberies have been planted, with complimentary ground-level lighting and a sprinkler system.

The park is now in it's final phases, and city officials say the grand opening of the green space will take place within the next month.
