Complaints have been filed with the Attorney General's Office and the Dartmouth Police Department after two brides say they were scammed out of thousands of dollars by a Dartmouth travel agency.

Kristine Mello and Jeffrey Ferreira were planning a destination wedding in Mexico and they and roughly 50 guests booked their trip through Terry's Travel.

However, after spending nearly $50,000 Mello told ABC6 she found out that hotel and flight payments were never made and she confronted the agency's owner, Theresa Souza.

"She said well I'm just waiting for the airline to send me the tickets so I can print them out for you, just give me two to three days,” said Mello.

They apparently weren't the only couple.

Sarah Bettencourt says she and her fiance had planned a destination wedding in Punta Cana.

That wedding was scheduled to take place seven weeks from now in Punta Cana and Bettencourt tells ABC6 she says they don't have the money to re-book.

"I'm very worried because I feel like we are definitely not going to be able to have our wedding now,” said Bettencourt

ABC6 reached out to the owner of Terry's travels but those calls haven't been returned.
