Councilor Martins Wants Zoning Ordinances For Medical Marijuana Centers

Medical marijuana dispensary centers are coming to Massachusetts, thanks to a state-wide vote last November.
Ward Two City Councilor Steve Martins says based on a motion he filed several months ago, the Council is discussing the possibility of dispensary centers in New Bedford, and how residential neighborhoods can be protected..
Martins tells WBSM News, there is interest in locating marijuana dispensary centers in New Bedford….

Martins says he’s looking for zoning changes to help protect residential neighborhoods.
Mayor Jon Mitchell has submitted a proposed ordinance to the council that calls for a nine month moratorium on dispensary centers locating in New Bedford, so state and local health officials can complete regulations that would govern those centers.
