Could John Lennon’s Tooth Be Used to Clone the Beatle?

The Canadian dentist who purchased one of John Lennon’s molars has revealed what he plans to do with the tooth. Michael Zuk says he’s attempting to sequence the late Beatle’s DNA to be used to create a clone in the future.

Zuk made headlines in 2011 when he bought Lennon’s rotten molar for about $30,000 at a U.K. auction. It was sold by Lennon’s former housekeeper. He says he is now working with researchers in the United States, putting the fragile tooth under a microscope and considering methods to extract the DNA.

Zuk is standing by his belief that cloning the famous Beatle is a possibility. He says he is “nervous and excited” by his new venture and he hopes to have the full sequence soon.
