Controlled Burn In The Freetown/Fall River State Forest

The Massachusetts DCR Bureau of Forest Fire Control will be conducting a controlled burn Thursday morning.

Freetown Fire Department officials say the burn will take place in the Slab Bridge Road/Hathaway Road area of the Freetown/Fall River State Forest.

A burn was conducted on Wednesday which was said to be very successful and  officials say weather conditions remain favorable for further operations.

The briefing for crews involved in the operation starts at 9 a.m. and operations are scheduled to begin shortly after the briefing.
