Confirmed Tornado Touches Down in Stoughton, Mass
The people of Stoughton, MA got a bit of a surprise on Thursday as a funnel cloud touched down. The National Weather Service has confirmed that it was in fact a tornado.
According to WCVB, the Weather Service says that it was tornado, just a weak one. It's classified as a EF-0, and it can produce winds of 80-90 mph.
Some of the witnesses say that it was scary, and that it even picked up several large vehicles and tossed them 5-10 feet from their original position.
In 2011 seven tornadoes touched down across western and central Massachusetts, and it resulted in a lot of damage and several deaths. This event, thankfully, was nothing like that.
Some people were able to use their cell phone cameras to document the event.
