President Obama responded yesterday to House Speaker John Boehner's "fiscal cliff" offer to compromise on higher tax rates for the richest Americans. 

The President moved off his insistence that rates rise on incomes over 250-thousand dollars, instead moving to higher rates on incomes over 400-thousand dollars.  Obama also floated spending cuts of 200-billion dollars.  Speaker Boehner is due to meet today with fellow Republicans to discuss the compromise
