College athletes are forming their own union.  Football players at Northwestern University are behind the movement to form the College Athlete Players Association.

The group said this week that an "overwhelming majority" of Northwestern's scholarship football players have notified the National Labor Relations Board they're seeking union representation through CAPA.

Among the goals of the new labor union are securing better medical coverage for student athletes and minimizing the risk of sports-related traumatic brain injury.

The NCAA says the, quote, "union-backed attempt to turn student-athletes into employees undermines the purpose of college: education."  (Metro Networks Inc.)
