A Fall River man, currently serving a life sentence in Washington State for a double murder there, has been returned to Massachusetts to face charges in a 25 year old murder case in Bristol County.

The Bristol County District Attorney's office has announced that 47-year old Daniel Tavares will be arraigned Monday in Fall River Superior Court for the 1988 murder of Gayle Bothelo in Fall River.  Her body was found in 2000, buried in the backyard of a house on June St. In Fall River, where Tavares had previously lived.

Tavares was indicted in Bristol County in April of this year, after investigators gathered new information in the case.  In 2007 he was sentenced to life in prison in Washington State for the brutal murder of a young married couple.
