A New Bedford scalloper finds itself in hot water with the Coast Guard for an illegal catch.

According to the Coast Guard, the 85-foot scalloper was loaded with more than 50-bushels of in-shell scallops within a line of demarcation in Buzzards Bay this past Friday.

The Coast Guard conducts fishery boardings on a regular basis in coordination with partner law enforcement agencies and Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod.

At the time of the boarding, the vessell was carrying well in excess of the 50-bushels permitted for the trip.

The violations are sent to NOAA's office of law enforcement for prosecution.
