BOSTON- An injured fisherman was rescued off the coast of Martha's Vineyard yesterday by the Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod crew.

The fisherman was reported to have sustained injuries that required medical attention after falling on the the 75-foot fishing vessel, Perception, at around 1:30 PM.  A call for emergency assistance was immediately put out by a fellow crew member on the ship, which was in Muskeget Channel,in-between Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, at the time of the incident.

The Coast Guard Air-Unit arrived at the scene in an MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter at around 2:15PM, and lifted the injured man from the deck and off the boat to the helicopter. The crew then transported the man to Hyannis Airport to await an EMS crew for transport to Cape Cod Hospital at 2:45 PM.
