There may be a national shortage of clowns, according to the trade organizations that deal with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

Clown membership has dropped over the past 10 years, coupled with a declining interest in a circus career and older, retiring clowns not getting replaced by a younger generation of entertainers.

To be honest, there are too many places to go with this story, but let's look at some areas the clown industry may want to look at for the future. Some say there isn't a shortage if we keep electing them to public office. Then again, what about the immigration of illegal clowns for jobs Americans will no longer do?

In my heart, I don't think there will ever be a serious shortage of clowns, only the ones that wear makeup! I'm sure you have some thoughts on this. Share them.
