The Texas teen detained when his homemade clock was mistaken for a bomb is leaving his high school.

A school district official tells the "Dallas Morning News" that 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed's father met with the superintendent yesterday and asked that all his children be removed from the district.

Ahmed's arrest earned him an invitation to the White House and the family is planning a trip to New York, where he'll meet dignitaries from the United Nations.

The family is also hoping to secure visas to Saudi Arabia so they can make the pilgrimage to Mecca.
