City and town halls across the region hosted religious prayer services on Thursday, as part of the National Day of Prayer.

In New Bedford, about 25 people attended a 45 minute service on the steps of City Hall.

Executive Minister David Lma of the Interchurch Council of Greater New Bedford offered a prayer for government leaders.

Other members of the clergy offered prayers for the military, families, and educators.

New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell also took part in the New Bedford Service.

Other prayer sessions were held in Dartmouth, Fairhaven and Acushnet.
