Final plans are now in place for the remediation of several vacant lots at the Parker Street waste site. The plan calls for the first three feet of soil at the six city-owned lots to be removed and capped with clean soil.

Director of Environmental Stewardship Michelle Paul tells WBSM News the lots will serve some sort of purpose after they're cleaned up.

The lots at Ruggles and Greenwood Streets were purchased by the city in 2008. The remediation plan now goes to public comment until September 11. Work will begin shortly after that with city crews performing the remediation. The city is paying for the project out-of-pocket.
